In darkness, as the cold weather seeks warm solace. Historically, as the major holidays, Christmas and Easter, approached, the monks, who were excellent brewers, would begin a fast and brew stronger beer, which apparently provided them with additional energy lost due to fasting. There may have been other reasons for making stronger beer during the dark times of the year, but today it is no longer relevant, as there are few monasteries left, and even fewer engaged in brewing. However, their tradition has firmly established itself in the culture of brewing and continues. As winter approaches, we will talk about stronger beer styles, get acquainted with their diversity and peculiarities.
